Ed has worked with both primary and secondary schools, offering support and guidance on improving provision in science.  This can take a number of forms, depending on the context.

Individual casework may include conducting lesson observations, book scrutinies, student voice sessions, staff discussions and interviews as well as the analysis of data and other evidence.  This can be used to produce reports with evidenced conclusions and recommendations.

Funding is sometimes available from central government to support improvement; these days this is usually triggered by data analysis at the DfE. Ed has worked with a number of primary and secondary schools in the south west to identify issues and strategies, develop action plans, support improvements and evaluate impact.

He is also involved with quality mark programmes both at primary – PSQM, for whom he has run a hub, guiding schools to getting the award, and is now a senior regional hub leader – and secondary – he has been involved in the development of Science Mark for the National Science Learning Centre.
